So the league winners are known and now the World Cup approaches. These competitions are slowly becoming more about sponsorship than sportsmanship; the poetry is ebbing away from the beautiful game.

In the domestic leagues that have just finished, poetry has also faded and been replaced with capitalism and bolshie, financial power.

League winners in England have ignored and broken Fifi's fair play financial regulations and now we must wait to see if they have the power and reputation to seriously punish teams and their rich owners for knowingly cheating.

I hope this age of no accountability by rich clubs comes to an end and we see some fair punishments.
